Saving Power Point for the Web (PC Version)

1.     After you have finished making and saving your PowerPoint presentation, go to the File menu and select “Save as Web Page.”
On the PC there are 2 options: use the second one from the pull down menu that creates an “html” file (not the ‘single file web page’ option). (see image below).

Save the file on the desktop or someplace you can remember. (There will be a new folder called “filename” and a new file called “filename.htm” there.)

2.     After you save it open an SFTP client, such as SSH Secure Shell Transfer Client
If you do not have one visit the IT website at
http://it.csumb.edu/software/files.html
Windows users download SSH Secure Shell; Mac users download Fetch 5.1.

Launch the application.

3.     Log in using your Otter ID and password by clicking QuickConnect.
The server name should be home.csumb.edu.

4.     Click connect, and then enter your password.
Your password will be your birth date if you have not already changed it.

5.     Once you are logged in, navigate to the World folder by double clicking on it.

6.     Once you have opened the World folder you will want to drag both the file and the folder that were created by PowerPoint into the world folder. The files will then start uploading.

7.     Your power point is now uploaded to the internet and is available for viewing through a web browser, such as Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Typically, you can find your files on the home server at an address similar to:

http://home.csumb.edu/first-letter-of-your-lastname/lastnamefirstname/world/filename.html

8.     If you have changes to make to the PowerPoint presentation, you must make the changes in the original filename.ppt file, then redo the following steps for the presentation to be current on the web!
